Due to the coronavirus, CHL cancelled the playoffs. The Memorial Cup will not be played for the first time in 102 years.

The Canadian Hockey League (CHL) on the official website announced the cancellation of the playoffs and the drawing of the Memorial Cup due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Therefore, the season is over for teams representing QMJHL, OHL and WHL – the Quebec Junior League, the Ontario Junior League and the Western Hockey League. Earlier, all leagues made similar decisions individually.

The Memorial Cup was to be held in Kelowna from March 22 to March 31. The champions of all three leagues and the host club were to take part in it. It is noteworthy that this season will be the first in more than 100-year history of the trophy when it will not be played. A memorial cup was established before the 1918/1919 season in memory of Canadian hockey players who died during the First World War.
