Our sports betting and casino brand, presented in over 60 countries, has a remarkable history of contributing to Nigeria’s sports and local communities. Since 2021, there have been plenty of activities across the country to improve the quality of life for Nigerians in many ways.
Over the years, 22Bet has been a key partner for various sports communities, with grassroots football fans standing out. As a company today, we go beyond helping local football clubs and sports betting fans. Since at least 2022, we have participated in various local infrastructure improvement charity projects in Ibadan, Nigeria’s third most populous city.
Let’s go through the essential events supported by 22Bet.ng all over Nigeria, starting in 2021.
Partnership with Bariga FC Lagos
In November 2021, as part of our efforts to support grassroots football in Nigeria, we donated training kits and equipment for Bariga FC Lagos. The ‘gift bag’ for the club included training markers, cones, hurdles, balls, and jerseys. Bariga FC, a grassroots football club based in the capital Lagos State, plays an important social role in the community. 22Bet.ng also sponsored the local tournament, Bariga Football Fiesta, with the club’s Team A and Team B participating.
Mr Adebayo Samuel Ajal, 22Bet’s Brand Marketing & Communication department Head, said, “We are excited to have formed this partnership with Bariga FC; we feel this is vital in promoting and contributing to the grassroots football industry in Nigeria.” He also mentioned that such a charity event was the beginning of partnerships with other grassroots football clubs.
As part of this initiative, a water borehole system was also installed within Bariga FC’s training ground.
22Bet Socialiga 5eves tournament
The SociaLiga 5ves is a one-day, five-bay football, entertainment, and lifestyle event scheduled once a quarter. Major brands like Guinness Nigeria, 22Bet.ng, and several Fintech companies participated in the December 2021 edition. We proudly announce that Team 22Bet eventually became the tournament’s winner.
22Bet League of Champions football tournament
The League of Champions is a highly entertaining and contested 5-A-side tournament with over 150 footballers and hundreds of spectators from local teams in the Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos. Our team was a proud participant in the tournament in May 2022.
Water borehole Ibadan Project Phase 1
We understand the importance of corporate social projects for the country’s sports betting fans and communities. In September 2022, we launched an ambitious project to deliver fresh water and install new public toilet facilities for the people of the Oyo area. As a first step, we have started the project to provide functional water borehole facilities for the two key Ibadan markets, the Moniya and Gbagi International markets. Both spots are popular marketplaces in the heart of Ibadan.
The Country Manager/COO of West Africa, Mr Fikayo Ogunfuye, stressed the importance of meeting water challenges for both places. This charity initiative was very successful, meeting the community’s expectations. As a result, we have decided to take another step in this direction in more areas.
Water borehole Ibadan Project Phase 2
Our next step in providing water boreholes and public toilet facilities in Ibadan markets was extending the charity initiative to another four markets in the Ibadan region in December 2022. These are Ojoo Meat Market at Ojoo Lagos Park, Bodija Market at Iwo Park Garage, Agbowo Park/the University of Ibadan, and Apete Garage/Poly Ibadan student residential area.
The provision of the water borehole and renovated public toilet facilities, implemented in partnership with Oyo State Gaming and Lottery Board, became a part of the broader 22Bet.ng’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. We believe that 22Bet.ng can do much more than provide sports betting entertainment. For us, contributing to the local communities across Nigeria and doing our best to improve our compatriots’ quality of life looks like a perfect goal.
