Real Madrid vs Valencia Preview and Team News

Real Madrid Team News

Real Madrid secured qualification for the Copa del Rey final with a 4-4 draw against Real Sociedad, despite criticism from the fans and the players themselves. The team conceded an early goal, then came back to lead, but Basque forced extra time after scoring four at the Bernabéu.

This included a mistake from goalkeeper Lunin. Only in overtime, when Kylian Mbappé was brought on to rescue the sinking ship, did the side manage to equalize through set pieces. The star striker didn’t hold back, asking, “How can we concede four in Madrid?”.

Ancelotti opted for Endrick instead of Mbappé to start the game. Although the Brazilian hasn’t featured in a hot minute, he opened the scoring for Madrid. Known for daring to shoot from any spot, it turned out to be the solution against a hesitant Real Sociedad.

Still, the team’s performance concerned the home crowd, who whistled in frustration as Madrid conceded multiple counterattacks. It took extended play and several defensive mistakes from Real Sociedad for the hosts to make it 4-4. Antonio Rüdiger scored in the 115th minute.

Dani Carvajal, Dani Ceballos, Éder Militao, Ferland Mendy, and Thibaut Courtois remain sidelined due to injuries.

Real Madrid Predicted line-up vs Valencia

Real Madrid line-up vs Valencia (4-2-3-1): Lunin; García, Alaba, Asencio, Lucas Vázquez; Camavinga, Tchouaméni; Vinicius, Bellingham, Rodrygo; Mbappé.

Valencia Team News

While the first half of the season consisted of relegation worries for Valencia, the arrival of Carlos Corberán at the end of 2024 turned out to be a blessing. The new coach initially struggled, but his attention to detail convinced the club to secure temporary signings, including loanee Umar Sadiq from Real Sociedad.

The Nigerian has been one of the significant changes in recent weeks, scoring as he received more service and picked up confidence. This has led Valencia to rank 15th in La Liga, undefeated in four games.

Corberán has built on a solid spine consisting of José Gayà (left-back) and Cristhian Mosquera as a stopper when defending transitions. The only major change in personnel has been the demotion of Pepelu as a single pivot. Javi Guerra and Enzo Barrenechea alternate in the midfield as a double pivot.

The Argentinian declared that ‘Mestalla feels like Argentinian stadiums’, due to the intense atmosphere.

José Gayà, Dimitri Foulquier, and Luis Rioja are suspended, while Ivan Jaime, Mouctar Diakhaby, and Thierry Correia are out with injuries.

Real Madrid vs Valencia CF Prediction

  • Prediction: Real Madrid to win
  • Odds: 1.285 (22Bet)
  • Score Prediction: Real Madrid 4-0 Valencia

The hosts have often struggled at the Mestalla, but with this match being played at the Bernabéu, betting odds will side with the hosts.

After the 4-4 draw, it’s unlikely that the visitors will stop Real Madrid, especially as they will want to secure the three points for their title race with Barcelona. The home squad do well against teams who lack in defense, exacerbated by the absence of captian Gayà.

Foulquier’s absence further weakens Valencia’s defense, which should allow Bellingham, Mbappé or Vinicius to score several goals.

Real Madrid vs Valencia Betting Tip

  • Pick: Jude Bellingham to score
  • Odds: 2.5 (22Bet)

Although Mbappé has recently become the center of all attention, Bellingham has been just as important. He received the highest rating on Sofascore in the match against Real Sociedad, one of the few players to track back while contributing to playmaking.

Given that Valencia will be without either of its starting full-backs, this is the perfect opportunity for Bellingham.
