The Premier League action this weekend will see an interesting fixture between Tottenham Hotspur and Everton. Both sides will have their sights set on the final Europa League place, but which side will be able to take control in that race with a success at the New Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Premier League Preview
There will be a bit of pressure on Tottenham Hotspur in this fixture as they come into this game after being embarrassed by Sheffield United in their last appearance. Spurs were way below par in that fixture, as they were beaten 3-1. Defensively they were weak, and it would be a shock to fans to see Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier start this game in the back four together.
At least one of the defenders were at fault for all three goals that were scored by the Blades. Harry Kane scored a late consolation, but few could argue that the Blades didn’t deserve all three points. Spurs have won just once since the restart, with that victory coming in their last home game against West Ham United. However, Jose Mourinho’s side will need to play much better to get a result against Everton.
The Toffees look good value for the final Europa League place as they have been in excellent form since the restart. They are yet to lose a game, and have taken seven points from a possible nine. The only dropped points in that run came in the 0-0 draw against Liverpool.
Since then, Everton have beaten Norwich City and Leicester City. The latter of those was their most recent outing, with the Toffees getting the win after goals from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson. If they play like that again, then they will have an excellent chance of getting three points.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton Head To Head
Everton have endured a terrible run against Spurs over recent years and they haven’t beaten their opponents this weekend since 2012. That means Spurs are unbeaten in this fixture in 14 games. The last two fixtures between the sides have been draws, with the meeting earlier in the season ending 1-1.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton Prediction
This is an excellent opportunity for Everton to end their terrible run against Spurs, as they have been in excellent form over recent weeks. Spurs have struggled defensively, and Everton have the players to punish them. The preference for this fixture is the away win.
