A top of the table clash in Italy will catch the imagination on Sunday, as table-topping Napoli look to remain perfect as they travel to the Stadio Olimpico to take on Jose Mourinho and his Roma side.
Serie A Preview
A huge clash will be taking place in Rome on Sunday evening, as Napoli defend their 100% record on the road against Roma. Napoli are the only side in Europe’s top five divisions with a perfect record at this stage of the season, and will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table.
Napoli have won all eight games that they have played this season, and have scored an impressive 19 goals. They also have the best defensive record in Serie A, having allowed just three goals against them so far this season.
The 24 points that they have collected so far sees them have a two-point lead over AC Milan, while they are seven clear of reigning champions Inter Milan. Napoli won for an eighth straight game last weekend, as they beat Torino 1-0. Victor Osimhen scored with just nine minutes left to play to claim a dramatic win.
Life under Mourinho has started pretty well for Roma, as they sit in the top four at this early stage. However, they have been far too easy to beat over recent weeks, having lost three times in their last six. A second defeat in three was inflicted on Roma last weekend, as they were beaten 1-0 by Juventus at the Allianz Stadium.
However, Mourinho certainly would have taken pluses from that game, as Napoli dominated the play and had more than enough chances to take at least a point. They will need to be more clinical in this fixture, as Napoli are unlikely to give away as many chances.
Roma vs Napoli Head to Head
Napoli have had a great record against Roma in recent seasons, as they have won the last three in Serie A. Roma’s only league win against Napoli in the last six meetings came with a 2-1 success in November 2019. Napoli won bot games last season without conceding a goal, and scoring six in the process.
Roma vs Napoli Prediction
Napoli have looked unstoppable in Serie A this season, but this will be one of their biggest tests to date. This could be the weekend where their 100% record is ended, but they will still likely take a point.
