Club career
Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo (born May 28, 1995) is a South African midfielder currently playing for Orlando Pirates in the Premier Soccer League. He has established himself as a key player, showcasing both his talent and determination throughout his experience.
Early Days and Record-Setting Cup Runs (2020-2023)
Ndlondlo’s professional career began with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, then continued with Marumo Gallants, who acquired TTM’s license. He made his debut in the top-flight South African Premier Division during the 2020-21 season.
Ndlondlo’s talent for rising to the occasion shone through during cup competitions. He was part of the winning teams in both the 2020-21 and 2022-23 Nedbank Cup finals, even scoring the winning goal in the former. He also experienced the other side of the coin, being on the losing team in the 2021-22 Nedbank Cup final. This remarkable feat of reaching three consecutive cup finals with three different clubs (alongside teammate Miguel Timm) tied a record previously held by Kermit Erasmus (2012, 2013, 2014).
Transfer to Orlando Pirates and Continued Success (2022-Present)
Following the 2021-22 season, rumors swirled about Ndlondlo potentially joining one of South Africa’s biggest clubs or AmaZulu. While he initially started the 2022-23 season with Marumo Gallants, Orlando Pirates secured his transfer on the final day of the window.
Ndlondlo wasted no time making his mark with his new club. He netted his first goal for Orlando Pirates in January 2023. His contributions led to the team’s successful season, which saw them lift the cup and secure a second-place finish in the league.
Facing Setbacks: A Suspension in the 2023-24 Season
Despite his good record, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo also faced setbacks during the 2023-24 season. Unfortunately, a suspension led to his absence from a crucial DStv Premiership match against Mamelodi Sundowns after receiving four yellow cards.
