Biography

Fernando José Pacheco Rivas (born 26 June 1999) is a professional football player from Peru who plays for Deportivo Municipal. He plays in the winger position and is currently on loan from Sporting Cristal.

He was born and raised in Bujama Baha, Mala, Cañete. Since his youth, he’s been a part of Sporting Cristal from their youth setup. He started playing football at the age of 14. He made his debut on 20 August 2016 at the age of 17 against Union Commercio.

On the professional stage, he scored a goal on 3 March 2018 against Universidad San Martin de Porres while playing under Sporting Cristal. His market value at present is around €750,000.

Club career

Sporting Cristal (2016-2019)

Pacheco’s professional career with Sporting Cristal began on 1 July 2016. He would go on to play until 2020, with the club scoring 5 goals in 55 appearances. The debut goal was against Universidad San Martin de Porres on 3 March 2018. Shortly after this, he scored another goal again UTC Cajamarca on the 15th of March. The goal came in at 45 minutes, securing the match for Sporting Cristal.

Pacheco scored another three goals for Sporting Cristal from 2018-2019 before his departure. On 13 December 2018, he managed to score a last-minute goal against Alianza Lima. Against the same team, he would score another goal in a match the following year on 25 February 2019. His goal in this match was the sole reason for the victory against Alianza Lima. As for his last goal, he would come against Cesar Vallejo at 48 minutes as the second goal in the 3-2 victory.

Fluminense (2020-2021)

Wanting to branch out, Pacheco moved to Brazil and signed with the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A side Fluminense. At this club, he played for one year. In the 27 appearances, he managed to score one goal against Vasco de Gama on 16 March 2020. 

FC Emmen (2022)

After being juggled as a back-and-forth between Juventude and Fluminense, Pacheco once again went back to Sporting Cristal. But he was soon loaned out to FC Emmen for a single season on loan with a transfer fee of €650,000. He could not score a single goal playing for the Dutch club during his stay. 

Deportivo Municipal (2022-2023) 

Pacheco’s dry spell finally ended when Sporting Cristal loaned him to Deportivo Municipal. While playing at this club, he scored his debut goal on 14 February 2023 against Melgar. He scored another goal shortly after that on 9 April 2023, against Sport Boys in the 19th minute. 

Club Cienciano (2023-Present)

After his loan period ended, Pacheco came back to Sporting Cristal where they once again loaned him out to Club Cienciano. He’s had 7 appearances while playing for the club without scoring a goal yet. The loan duration will end on 31 December 2023, when he will again return to Sporting Cristal. 

International Career

Pacheco is also part of the Peruvian National Team, having played in the U17 and U20s squad. While playing for Peru U20, he scored the winning goal against Uruguay on 19 January 2019. His 53-minute goal led to his team winning the match. 

Pacheco is also part of the Peru U23 National squad, where he scored a single goal within 8 appearances.
