Nikola Jokić and the Serbian national team have had several great showings in the Olympics thus far, only dropping one game on July 28th. Jokić and Bogdan Bogdanović have both been amazing thus far, with Jokić leading the team in points, rebounds, and assists. Nonetheless, Serbia should still struggle quite a lot against the imposing Team USA roster.
With Jokić and Bogdanović taking so much of the scoring and defensive load, they’re likely going to be double or triple-teamed unless another Serb can step up and take some pressure off.
USA
After blowing the Brazilians out of the water 87-122 in their last Olympic match, Team USA will be firing on all cylinders to ensure they make it to the gold medal game. Anthony Edwards will again likely have a spectacular game along with America’s other shooters, as Serbia has no answer for them from beyond the arch.
All Team USA needs to do is shut down the key and not let Jokić take control of the game, and they’ll be fine.

Team Serbia is going to have their work cut out for them going into this semi-final match against Team USA. Serbia’s main scoring options, Nikola Jokić, Bogdan Bogdanović, and Vasilije Micić, have been combining for a decent 51.1 points per game so far, but aside from those three, Serbia is really lacking in the scoring area, especially from the perimeter.
The Americans simply have too much depth on their roster at every position, while Serbia is strong down low, leading to a ton of mismatches on the perimeter. Serbia has no real ability to slow down the likes of Anthony Edwards, Devin Booker, or even Stephen Curry.
However, Jokić will definitely have a fire lit under him going into the semis, as he is known to be quite a patriotic guy, much preferring his home back in Serbia over Denver. He should be able to put on a decent show, although if he goes too hard, he may be instantly double or triple-teamed.
The only downside for Team USA is that with LeBron James’ eye injury, he’ll be out for the game against Serbia as he just got four stitches.

Let’s be honest with ourselves, Nikola Jokić is easily one of the best players in the world, having won an NBA championship and several NBA MVP awards. And in the Olympics so far, he’s continued to show why he is one of the best by dominating almost every single big man in the Olympics.
Against Team USA, his usage rate is likely going to skyrocket, as he puts the Serbian national team on his back. Anthony Davis and Joel Embiid will likely aim to at least curb his scoring output, but a 20-point game seems more than reasonable.
As long as he doesn’t get absolutely smothered down low or injured, he should have a pretty decent game.
