Crystal Palace vs Everton Preview and Team News

Crystal Palace Team News

Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace return to Premier League action this Saturday after winning each of their last two across all competitions. Crystal Palace upset the odds with their excellent counter-attacking approach against Manchester United before last weekend’s FA Cup success, winning 2-0 at Old Trafford.

Despite their ruthless display in Manchester, Crystal Palace are still underperforming in terms of their xG of 30.15 after scoring just 16 goals from open play. However, their defensive record looks reliable after allowing just 24 goals from an open play xGA of 29.84.

Romain Esse will feature among the subs this weekend after impressing from the bench since making a £12 million move from Millwall.

Ben Chilwell has been brought in to provide cover for Tyrick Mitchell, but Trevoh Chalobah’s loan spell was cut short by Chelsea. Adam Wharton could be in line to start this weekend, while Eberechi Eze and Eddie Nketiah are also back in contention. However, Ismaila Sarr, Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucouré are all out.

Crystal Palace predicted lineup vs Everton (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Guehi; Muñoz, Wharton, Lerma, Mitchell; Eze, Kamada; Mateta.

Everton Team News

Everton’s confidence will be high after a great showing against Liverpool in midweek to secure a late 2-2 draw. James Tarkowski’s equaliser was the latest goal that Everton have scored this season, and means that David Moyes’ side are unbeaten in their last four.

Everton have shown much more in the attacking third in their recent outings, recording xGs of 2.56 and 3.11 in 3-2 and 4-0 wins over Tottenham and Leicester, respectively. Despite that, they are still underperforming in terms of their 20.45 metric, having scored 14 goals. But, they have allowed fewer than their xGA of 29.23 after conceding 25 goals.

Carlos Alcaraz was the only bit of business done by Everton in the winter transfer window, and he could start due to the suspension of Abdoulaye Doucoure on Saturday.

Moyes will also have attacking headaches, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Dwight McNeil both ruled out. Iliman Ndiaye will face a late fitness test after limping off in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday.

Everton predicted lineup vs Crystal Palace (4-2-3-1): Pickford; O’Brien, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko; Gueye, Alcaraz; Harrison, Garner, Ndiaye; Beto.

Crystal Palace vs Everton Prediction

  • Pick: Everton to win
  • Odds: 4.50 (22Bet)
  • Score prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 Everton

The feel-good mood surrounding Goodison Park could continue on the road for Everton this weekend.

Everton have defended excellently across their last four matches, most recently restricting the free-scoring Liverpool to an xGA of 0.93 on Wednesday. Crystal Palace often struggle when they can’t play on the counter-attack, and that could play into Everton’s hands on Saturday.

It also shouldn’t be discounted when making a Crystal Palace vs Everton prediction that the home side this weekend have won just once in their last 20 Premier League matches against their opponents.

Crystal Palace vs Everton Prediction, Betting Tip

  • Pick: Under 4.5 Cards
  • Odds: 1.48 (22Bet)

Despite a red card in midweek, Everton remain one of the best-disciplined sides in the Premier League this season. They have picked up just 2.13 cards per 90 in the competition. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have picked up 2.00 cards per game. Therefore, under 4.5 cards looks to have a solid chance at Selhurst Park.

Everton have scored a staggering ten goals from set pieces this season, which includes six from an xG of 4.46 from free-kicks.

Therefore, there could be value in Michael Keane scoring on Saturday. The defender has scored two from an xG of 0.79 this season, and Crystal Palace have allowed an xGA of 7.39 from corners.
