Brazil vs USA Preview
Brazil
After losing twice to France and Germany, Brazil managed to beat Japan 84-102, pushing them to the quarterfinals against Team USA. However, they’re definitely going to have a tough time, as they simply don’t have the talent to compete with world-class squads. The only two NBA players on the roster are Gui Santos and Joao Cardoso, and they aren’t even carrying the roster.
Brazil is made up of a handful of solid players from around the world, but when your only NBA talent is below average at best, you’re going to have your work cut out for you.
USA
To nobody’s surprise, Team USA has breezed their way into the quarter-finals, beating their last three opponents by some healthy margins. Against Puerto Rico in their last match, they went quite easy and still managed to dominate the game 104-83.
It’s looking like Team USA may have a free path to the Gold Medal game, but they still have to go out there and put the Brazilians away.
Bet hereBrazil vs USA Prediction
- Pick: Team USA to win all quarters
- Odds: 1.72 (22Bet)
- Score prediction: Brazil 80 – 110 USA
While Brazil may have been able to beat Japan in their last Olympic showing, Team USA is another beast entirely. Brazil’s main scoring options have nowhere near the firepower, and on the defensive side of things, they are completely outmatched. Bruno Caboclo of Serbia’s FK Partizan has been leading in points so far, with Brazil’s NBA talent falling short across the board.
In terms of play, the Americans will likely dominate all four quarters, as they’ll be looking to take advantage of their athleticism in the open court. If Brazil does manage to slow down the Team USA offense, they’ll have to contend with one of the greatest shooting lineups ever assembled. Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant will be dropping bombs from deep while some of the world’s best slashers attack the bucket.
Coach Steve Kerr will also likely slow down the pace of the game around the third or fourth quarter, as he has done so far in the Olympics, as long as the USA is up. It’s poor sportsmanship to run up the score.
Brazil vs USA Prediction, Betting Tip
- Pick: Anthony Edwards to score 16 or more
- Odds: 2.5 (22Bet)
Anthony Edward has been on an absolute tear in the Olympics so far, averaging 16.7 points, 3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists on 63.3% shooting from the field. He’s been shooting great, attacking to the basket, and has quite a high usage rate, as the other guys on Team USA happily let him get his reps in.
However, it’s not just volume getting him his numbers, as he is only playing 17.7 minutes a game on average and still leading the team in scoring. The kid is a monster through and through, meaning 16 points against a weak team like Brazil should be easy work.
Brazil will also have their hands far too full with the rest of Team USA to double Edwards, giving him the freedom to score at will.
