Despite a partial stadium closure, Barcelona won against Brest (3-0) on Tuesday. This resulted from a feud between the club and the Espai d’Animacio, as supporters refused to pay the fines. Several fans have been fined over their behaviour toward opposing fans, including Nazi gestures against AS Monaco in the Champions League.
Joan Laporta and the board believe Espai d’Animacio should cover the fines, which reach up to 20,000 euros. As a result, the club announced yesterday the suspension of the Espai d’Animacio, with no specified end date (the club used the term ‘indefinitely’).

After a XXL start to the season, Barcelona has faced some issues in the last games, losing to Real Sociedad at the Anoeta (1-0), and dropping points in the last minutes against Celta Vigo at Balaidos (2-2). The Catalans seemed comfortable until Pedri and Gavi were substituted, a mistake Hansi Flick took responsibility for.
Against Brest, Barcelona performed better but were wasteful in the final third. This didn’t stop Robert Lewandowski from bagging his 100th and 101st goal in the Champions League.

Lamine Yamal hasn’t played since the international break, as head coach Hansi Flick has opted for caution with the 17-year-old. He announced that the Spaniard was expected to return to training today and will likely be in the squad against in Las Palmas though it remains uncertain whether he will start.
Las Palmas
On October 7th, Las Palmas decided to change directions and bring in Diego Martinez as their new head coach. They were last in La Liga at the time.
The change has been well-received, as the Canarians are already out of the relegation zone. A key victory against Valencia (3-2), Girona (1-0) and Rayo Vallecano (3-1) showed that this team might survive La Liga after all. Las Palmas lost to Mallorca (2-3) in a close match this weekend, as Johan Mojica scored the winner in the 90th minute.
They are currently 17th in La Liga, although this is subject to change should Valencia win any of their two games in hand.

Barcelona’s season has been unique. In La Liga, they have blitzed their way through the league. Hansi Flick’s German approach in Spain seems unstoppable. As the game will be played at home, Barcelona will also have the home advantage.
While Las Palmas have improved in recent weeks, the lack of individual quality will be a problem against the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha. They also lost to Atlético de Madrid (2-0) a few weeks ago.

This may be the time for Barcelona to rotate. It’s unclear whether Hansi Flick will play Lamine Yamal, as the club prefers to not overload the player, for fear of repeating another Pedri case.
Dário Essugo grabbed the headlines. He’s one of the team’s best players, as his physicality and technical quality provide Las Palmas with stability in the midfield. It’s unclear whether he’s a classic interior or a double-pivot player, but he’s one to watch out for. He also scored against Mallorca last weekend.
FC Barcelona vs Las Palmas Betting Tip
- Pick: Raphinha to score
- Odds: 1.90 (22Bet)
Las Palmas have one of the “flattest” defences, meaning they are often unable to catch up with the opponent’s verticality. They don’t have a quality signing in the centre-back pair, which often leads to individual mistakes, which explains why the team finds it difficult to keep a clean sheet.

Diego Martinez has focused on improving the midfield and the offence so far but hasn’t addressed the defensive issues. With Lamine Yamal’s presence uncertain, Raphinha is expected to step up. The Brazilian presses for three players combined while his off-the-ball runs continue to ravage defences from the inside.
