West Bromwich Albion vs Leicester City Prediction: Premier League Match on 13.09.2020
West Bromwich Albion will kick off their return to the Premier League with a Midlands derby against Leicester City. The Foxes will be looking to start the season strongly after agonisingly missing out on a place in the top four on the final day of the 2019-20 season.
Premier League Preview
Slaven Bilic was able to lead West Bromwich Albion back into the Premier League after a two-year absence last season as they finished second in the Championship. However, staying in the top-flight will be their biggest challenge this term and they could face an uphill battle. The Baggies conceded nearly a goal a game in the Championship last term and struggled for a striker to find the back of the net.
Charlie Austin and Hal Robson-Kanu were their joint top scorers as they netted ten each, which could indicate that they could struggle at both ends of the pitch in the Premier League. The club have managed to sign Matheus Pereira on a full-time basis from Sporting Lisbon, while Cedric Kipre could challenge for a place in the back four. Meanwhile, the Baggies were also able to capture the permanent signing of Grady Diangana, who arrived from West Ham United for an undisclosed fee. Regardless, whether they have the quality or experience to survive at this level remains to be seen.
Leicester City would have spent their summer wondering how it managed to go wrong at the end of the 2019-20 season, as they were passed by both Manchester United and Chelsea in the battle to finish in the top four. They won just twice in their last seven to end the campaign, and will need to start the season strongly to have any chance of maintaining pace with the leading sides in the division this term. The board have backed Brendan Rodgers once again over the summer as Timothy Castagne has arrived from Atalanta, but the Foxes have lost Ben Chilwell to Chelsea.
West Bromwich Albion vs Leicester City Head To Head
This will be the first meeting between these two sides in two years, with Leicester winning the previous fixture 4-1 at the Hawthorns. West Brom haven’t beaten the Foxes since their 2-1 success in November 2016.
West Bromwich Albion vs Leicester City Prediction
Leicester should have enough quality at both ends of the field to give a stern reality check to West Brom on opening day. Jamie Vardy will be a good bet for first scorer as he has scored four goals in seven games against the Baggies.
