In the NHL, the first case of coronavirus infection was confirmed – the Ottawa player passed a positive test for COVID-19. On Wednesday morning, the team reported that the hockey player has mild symptoms; he is in isolation. The player name is not stated.
“The club now alerts everyone who has been in close contact with the athlete. We work together with the club’s doctors and public health representatives. It is recommended that all Ottawa employees remain isolated, monitor their health and seek advice from the club’s medical staff, ” the Senators said.
Most likely, in the coming days, we will hear about new confirmed cases of the disease – according to the journalist James Myrtle, several players are sick in Ottawa, they all passed tests and are waiting for the test results.
At best, they have a common cold, and an unnamed hockey player became infected after the NHL was paused. But according to the World Health Organization, the incubation period of the coronavirus (the time between infection and the onset of clinical symptoms of the disease) ranges from 1 to 14 days, most often about five. This means that representatives of four more NHL clubs may be at risk.
