The final matches in Group F in EURO qualification take place on Sunday. It has been a disappointing campaign for Sweden, as they have missed out on a place at next summer’s EUROs. However, they will be bidding to end their group campaign on a high against Estonia in Stockholm.
EURO 2024 Qualifier Preview
Sweden’s impressive record of qualifying for the EUROs has come to an end this year, as there will be a major European tournament without the Swedes for the first time since 1996. It has been a very disappointing campaign in Group F, as they have failed to build on their run to the round of 16 at the previous edition of the EUROs.
Sweden have won just twice in six qualifiers to this point, which is the fewest victories that they have picked up in qualification since landing just two wins in eight matches in their 1996 qualifying campaign. Sweden at least avoided defeat in both matches that they played in the previous international break, while they have won eight of their last 12 international matches.
Estonia were the first nation in Group F to exit contention of reaching the major tournament by finishing in the top two positions. However, they already have the added benefit of a playoff to look forward to, courtesy of their impressive displays in the Nations League last summer. But, their chances of reaching the EUROs remain slim.
The nation has never previously managed to qualify for the EUROs, and they have failed to win a qualifying match for the second edition of qualification in seven attempts. They come into this match after winning just one international fixture in ten this calendar year, with that success coming against Finland in January.
Sweden vs Estonia Head to Head
Sweden have an excellent record against Estonia, as they are unbeaten in 18 previous encounters. Over that period, they have recorded 16 victories, with just two ending in draws. In the previous match between the sides, Sweden landed a comfortable 5-0 success on the road in September.
Sweden vs Estonia Prediction
This should give Sweden a good opportunity to end their group stage on a high note in Stockholm. It looks incredibly challenging to bet against the Swedes, and we fully expect them to land a final day victory in front of their home fans against Estonia.
