Belief continued to grow in the quarterfinals of the competition, as they overcame a talented Brazilian side with a penalty shootout success. This will be the second meeting between Canada and Sweden, and the first at the Olympics. Canada managed to get a draw in the first meeting between the nations in the Algarve Cup in 2019, but were beaten by Sweden in the World Cup just a couple of months later.
