Bayern Munich answered any doubts surrounding their title credentials emphatically last weekend, as they cruised to success against Union Berlin. It was a strong response by the defending champions after losing their previous fixture, but they remain locked in a fight with Borussia Dortmund coming into this weekend, with just goal difference separating the sides.
However, Bayern’s performance against Union was ominous for the rest of the teams in the league, as they hammered their shell-shocked title rivals, and didn’t allow Union to have a single shot on target. The game was taken away from the capital club within the space of the final 15 minutes of the first half. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting opened the scoring, before Kingsley Coman and Jamal Musiala added further goals before the half-time break.
Stuttgart is still fighting for their lives in the Bundesliga this term, as they sit 15th in the current standings. They are just outside of the relegation places on goal difference, and they come into this fixture having picked up just one victory from their previous five matches.
However, they weren’t able to record a second straight victory in their previous match, as they were beaten on the road by Schalke.
