There could be a huge shock in Group A of EURO qualification, as the top two spots are currently occupied by Scotland and Georgia. Both nations will still face an uphill challenge to secure their place in the major tournament in Germany next summer, as Spain will likely step up their performance levels when they return to action.
EURO 2024 Qualifier Preview
Scotland has been one of the standout nations in EURO qualification to this point, as they have made a lightening fast start to Group A. At present, they sit top of the group standings after winning all three matches that they have played. In fact, they could break their record for their best start to a qualification campaign with victory over Georgia on Tuesday.
The Scots have been excellent at both ends of the field to this point, as they have scored seven goals and allowed just one. Their winning run continued on Saturday, as they came back from a goal down to secure a dramatic 2-1 win over Norway. Both of their goals were netted in the final three minutes, with the winner being scored by Kenny McLean.
Credit must also be given to Georgia, who have made a stunning start to their qualification campaign. They currently sit second in the overall standings, and they could open up a four point advantage over third-placed Spain with a victory at Hampden Park on Tuesday.
Georgia recorded a first victory in the qualification campaign over the weekend, as they struck with just six minutes remaining to land a 2-1 away win against Cyprus. Their winning effort was netted with little time remaining on the clock by Zuriko Davitashvilli.
Scotland vs Georgia Head to Head
This will be the fifth time that Scotland and Georgia have locked horns, with each of the previous four being won by the side playing at home. Georgia landed a 1-0 win in the most recent fixture between the sides in September 2015, while Scotland beat Georgia 1-0 in October 2014 at Hampden Park.
Scotland vs Georgia Prediction
Scotland has made an electric start to EURO qualification, and we would be extremely surprised if they aren’t able to pick up maximum points when they come up against Georgia on Tuesday. Therefore, we will be siding with a 2-0 win for the hosts at Hampden Park.
