Real Madrid remain at the top of the La Liga standings, but their advantage is much slimmer than they would have been hoping for. They could extend their advantage at the summit to seven points with a victory over a struggling Granada side on Sunday.
La Liga Preview
Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping to secure back-to-back titles in La Liga for Real Madrid this season, and they certainly look to be in a commanding position to achieve that feat. Real are the current league leaders, and have a four-point advantage over second-placed Sevilla coming into this round of games. Real Betis are ten points off the pace in third.
Real’s recent form has been rather sketchy, as they have picked up just two victories from their previous five games. They were held for the second time during that run in their most recent league fixture, as they fought back from 2-0 down against Elche.
It was a late showing by the league leaders on that occasion, as they looked to be heading for an embarrassing defeat with 15 minutes remaining. However, goals from Luka Modric and Eder Militao in the final ten minutes spared their blushes.
Granada will be pushing for a finish in the top half of the standings in the second half of the season, and will be looking for an upturn in form having been drawn closer to the relegation places over recent weeks.
They come into this fixture in 14th place in the standings, and are currently just six points away from the relegation places. Their recent form certainly doesn’t help their chances, as they are winless in four and have lost each of their previous two. Granada were beaten 2-0 by Osasuna in their latest La Liga fixture, which means that they have now conceded six goals in their previous two matches.
Real Madrid vs Granada Head to Head
Granada have picked up just one win in the previous 17 meetings between the two clubs. That victory came back in February 2013, which means that they have lost their last 13 against Real. Real have scored ten goals in the previous three meetings, winning the last two 4-1.
Real Madrid vs Granada Prediction
The hosts have a very dominant record in this fixture, and that is extremely hard to look past this weekend. Our preference is for a Real victory, and we could see them cruising to a 2-0 victory.
