The Italian giants have scored the most goals in Serie A so far this season, and also have one of the best defensive records, having allowed just nine. They maintained their excellent start to the season last weekend, as they battled to a 1-0 victory on the road against AS Roma. Sassuolo has also enjoyed a fairly solid start to the new season, as they sit just outside the European places in ninth. However, a European push this term already looks unlikely, as they are sit points behind seventh-placed Inter Milan at this stage of the campaign.
Sassuolo won for the third time in five fixtures in their previous fixture, as they claimed a 2-1 home win against Hellas Verona. The winning goal in that fixture was scored with 15 minutes remaining by Davide Frattesi. Meanwhile, the opening goal in the fixture was scored by Armand Lauriente, which pulled Sassuolo level after they had gone behind after two minutes.
