Manchester United’s hectic schedule continues on Sunday, as they welcome Leicester City to Old Trafford. The visitors will be looking to pick up a third straight league win to improve their chances of survival this term.
Premier League Preview
It looks set to be a busy period for Erik ten Hag and his Manchester United side, as they host Leicester City in between fixtures against Barcelona in the Europa League. This Sunday’s league meeting between the sides also comes seven days before the Red Devils face off against Newcastle United in the EFL Cup final. United already look solid in their place in the Champions League spots, as they sit seven points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur.
United recorded a second win in three games in their previous fixture, as they scored two late goals to see off a spirited Leeds United. Marcus Rashford scored the opening goal to continue his hot streak in front of goal, before Alejandro Garnacho marked his cameo from the bench with the second.
Things are looking better for Leicester than they did before the World Cup break, as they are now sitting 13th in the standings, and are six points above the relegation places. The Foxes have won their previous two, and also come into this trip to Old Trafford, having gone three without a defeat.
Leicester were excellent winners in their previous game in the league, as they secured a 4-1 home win over Tottenham Hotspur. That was the second straight game in which the Foxes had netted four times, and they have now scored ten in their previous three league fixtures.
Manchester United vs Leicester City Head to Head
United picked up a 1-0 win at the King Power earlier this season, but that was their first win in four against the Foxes in the Premier League. The Red Devils are also winless in their previous two against Leicester at Old Trafford, with the Foxes picking up a 1-1 draw last season.
Manchester United vs Leicester City Prediction
We expect ten Hag to make wholesale changes for this fixture on Sunday ahead of the return game against Barcelona. That will give an in-form Leicester hope at Old Trafford, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see this game end in a draw.
