It has been business as usual for Man City over the opening weeks of the Premier League season, as they have smoothly moved to the top of the league standings after winning each of their opening five matches. City have scored an impressive 15 goals across their opening five matches, and they have conceded a league-low of just three.
Pep Guardiola’s side needed to show their character in their previous fixture, as they came back from 1-0 down to power past West Ham United. Jeremy Doku marked his first start for the European champions by netting the equaliser in the 46th minute, before Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland netted the crucial second and third goals, respectively, in the final 15 minutes.
Nottingham Forest will be encouraged by the start to the season that they have made, as Steve Cooper’s side sits eighth in the current standings after winning two of their opening five matches. Forest have scored seven goals across their opening matches, but they will need to improve defensively after also allowing seven goals.
The visitors this weekend will be looking for a much better performance than they managed in their previous fixture, as they were held to a draw by Burnley at the City Ground. Callum Hudson-Odoi scored an excellent equalising goal to earn Forest a home point in that fixture. But, the draw did improve Forest’s recent record in the Premier League, as they have lost just two of their last 17 at the City Ground.

Man City picked up a comfortable 6-0 win in this exact fixture last season, before the sides played out a 1-1 draw at the City Ground in February. However, Forest did pick up a win on their previous visit to City before last season, as they secured a 3-0 win in January 2009 in the FA Cup.

Forest have already shown that they can be very dangerous on the counter-attack this season. They will be huge outsiders to get the win, but we could see them pushing City to their limit at the Etihad this weekend.
