Manchester City will be aware that there is no room for error over the final month of the season if they are to regain their Premier League title. Their run-in kicks off with a home fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Etihad on Wednesday evening.

Manchester City’s aim to win the treble this season is over after defeat in the FA Cup against Liverpool last weekend. In truth, it was one of City’s worst displays under Pep Guardiola as they found themselves 3-0 down at the break. They did fight back into the game in the second period, but Liverpool’s victory never looked to be in doubt, as City struggled to create chances against a well-organised backline.
The Premier League will be the focus this week for City, as they look to bounce back after playing out two draws in their previous three games. Their latest draw came against Liverpool, as the two title rivals played out a 2-2 draw a couple of weeks ago. City probably should have stolen the points, as Riyad Mahrez missed a glorious chance with the final kick of the game. However, Guardiola’s side has no more room for error, as they are just a point clear with an inferior goal difference.
Brighton aren’t ideal opponents for City this week, as the Seagulls are looking to continue their excellent recent record on the road against the top sides in the league. They currently sit tenth in the Premier League standings, but their confidence will be high after picking up two straight wins on the road against Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Brighton are also unbeaten in their previous three, and showcased an excellent defensive performance in their recent 1-0 win against Spurs. Leandro Trossard scored the winner in North London last weekend, as the winger slotted home in the final ten minutes to seal a famous win for the Seagulls.

Manchester City eased to the three points in the previous meeting between the sides this season. City claimed a 4-1 success back in October. That was the perfect response after losing their previous game against the Seagulls. City have picked up eight wins in nine fixtures against Brighton.

The pressure is on City, as they can’t afford to drop points in this fixture, and could kick off on Wednesday sitting second. I can’t see City dropping points here, and expect Guardiola’s side to pick up a 2-0 success at the Etihad.
