After an excellent two wins on the bounce to start the season, Augsburg were held before the international break by Wolfsburg away from home. A first defeat of the season first followed after the international break as they were comfortably beaten 2-0 by RB Leipzig. Bayern Leverkusen are still trying to find their best form this season, as they started the campaign with three wins on the bounce. However, they have started to show signs of improvement over the last week, as they won their first Bundesliga fixture of the season. The first win came against Mainz, with Lucas Alario scoring the only goal of the game. Their fortunes improved further in the Europa League this past week as they hit six past Nice. Leverkusen won their opener 6-2, with Karim Bellarabi scoring a brace in the win. There were also goals in the game for Nadiem Amiri, Lucas Alario, Moussa Diaby and Florian Wirtz.
