First plays third in the Bundesliga on Saturday when RasenBallsport Leipzig face Borussia Monchengladbach at the Red Bull Arena.
Julian Nagelsmann’s side had their lead cut at the top of the table to just one point when they lost 2-0 away to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, with Monchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich all closing the gap.
Marco Rose’s Gladbach side beat Mainz 05 at Borussia Park on Saturday to get back on track after two games without a win, with an Alassane Plea brace helping them secure the win.
Leipzig are now just one point clear of Bayern in second with Gladbach a further point back in third, so a win could send the away side top, provided results elsewhere go their way.
Team news
Leipzig have a lengthy list of absentees with Kevin Kampl, Ibrahima Konate, and Willi Orban all long-term injuries doubts.
In the shorter term, Lukas Klostermann and Emil Forsberg are being assessed day to day, while Patrik Shick and Stefan Ilsanker are both doubts.
Ramy Bensebaini and Tony Jantschke have both been ruled out for Gladbach with thigh injuries, while Nico Elvedi is a doubt.
Raffael and Florian Mayer are both being assessed day to day and will hope to play a part.
Leipzig vs Borrusia M Prediction
Both of these sides have been thoroughly impressive this season, with young managers instructing their teams to play attacking football.
The two sides are both in with a chance of lifting the Bundesliga title but will have to be wary of Bayern who always pick up the form at this stage.
Monchengladbach are far better at home than they are away, while Leipzig have won their last five home matches in the Bundesliga.
Having said that, Leipzig do have more important absentees coming into this match and for that reason, a draw looks like the most likely outcome.
