Just four clubs remain in the hunt for the Coppa Italia this season, and there will be massive semi-final action this week. Juventus will be aware that the tournament is their only chance to win silverware this term, and they will need to make their home advantage count at the Allianz Stadium when they lock horns with Lazio on Tuesday.

Coppa Italia Preview

No club has achieved as much success in the Coppa Italia throughout history than Juventus. The Old Lady will be looking to win the domestic honour in Italy for the 15th time this term, but they have fallen short in each of the previous two editions of the competition since winning the illustrious trophy in 2021.

Juventus entered the Coppa Italia this season in the round of 16 stage, and they were dominant in that opening clash after scoring a 6-1 victory at home against Salernitana. That dominance continued in the previous round of the tournament in January, scoring a 4-0 home success against Frosinone. However, it could be hard to overlook their recent issues on the field, as Juventus will come into this semi-final after going four domestic matches without a victory. Their most recent outing ended in a 1-0 loss against Lazio in Serie A.

Lazio will be hoping for the same outcome against their rivals this week, in what will be the second of three meetings between the sides in just under a month. The Italian giants have won the Coppa Italia on seven previous occasions, and have also reached the final on three further occasions. The most notable of those ended in a defeat against Juventus in 2016-17.

Lazio also entered the competition in the round of 16 stage, but they have been far more professional in their previous two matches. The Italian side claimed a 1-0 win over Genoa at the start of December, before beating their arch-rivals AS Roma by the same scoreline in January.

Juventus vs Lazio Head to Head

Lazio have claimed victories in two of the last three meetings between these sides, with their most recent success coming at the end of March in Serie A.

However, prior to these positive results, Lazio had gone six matches without a success against the Old Lady. In Coppa Italia fixtures between the sides, Juventus have landed victories in each of the last four. Lazio’s only domestic cup success against the Old Lady in six attempts was achieved in January 2013 in the quarterfinal stage.

Juventus vs Lazio Team News

Paul Pogba remains out indefinitely for the Old Lady. The home team will also be without Alex Sandro, Filip Kostic, and Arkadiusz Milik for this first leg. Carlos Alcaraz will also be unavailable, but the midfielder should be fit enough to return for the second leg at the end of the month.

Lazio will also be without two key stars for this first leg on Tuesday. Goalkeeper Ivan Provedel is unavailable after picking up a hamstring injury, while Nicolo Rovella isn’t expected to return for Lazio until the end of the month.

Juventus vs Lazio Prediction

This will be a massive opening leg in the Coppa Italia for both of these sides, but there will be increased pressure on Juventus, who will likely need to win at the Allianz Stadium to boost their chances.

The fact that Lazio have won two of the last three meetings between these sides is hard to overlook, and they were impressive when landing a 1-0 success over the previous weekend. That could be the key form line when assessing the most likely outcome in this first leg, meaning that we will be siding with a huge first victory in this tie for Lazio.
