The records keep coming for Italy. If they can keep another clean sheet against Wales they would break a long-standing national record for minutes without conceding. To this point, they have gone ten straight games without conceding, and most impressively, they have won every game during that run. Before the start of the EUROs, they had never won a game at the major competition by three or more goals. However, in the space of seven days, they have achieved that feat on two occasions. Their opening day 3-0 success against Turkey was followed up with another dominant 3-0 victory against Switzerland on Wednesday night. Manuel Locatelli is turning out to be one of the stars of the tournament, and the midfielder scored his first-ever brace in that dominant win. Ciro Immobile scored his second of the tournament in the closing stages.
Wales were involved in potentially the game of the tournament so far in Baku on Wednesday evening, as they came out on top against the much-fancied Turkish side. Aaron Ramsey opened the scoring, before all doubt was removed in the fifth minute of injury time by Connor Roberts, who finished off after an excellent piece of skill by Gareth Bale. Bale had earlier missed a penalty in the game, but this victory was all about the character of the Welsh side. Their place in the next round now looks assured, but this will be a big challenge for them to assess how far they can really go this summer.
