Borussia Dortmund have seamlessly moved into the Champions League spots in the Bundesliga since bouncing back to form following the winter break. However, they could face an interesting challenge to maintain their winning sequence when they come up against Heidenheim on Friday.

It has been an excellent return to domestic action following the pause in play in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund. The German giants have moved into the top four spots after recording wins in their last three matches, and they could potentially end this upcoming round in third if they are able to claim maximum points on the road on Friday.
Dortmund’s winning run was extended last weekend, as they easily claimed maximum points at home against Darmstadt. Niclas Fulkrug was the hero for the German giants, as he netted an excellent hat-trick at Signal Iduna Park. The striker’s final effort was netted from the penalty spot in the first minute of injury time to secure maximum points.
Dortmund will need to show plenty of respect to Heidenheim this weekend, as the newly promoted side are riding high in the standings at this stage. They come into this round sitting tenth, but they could potentially end the weekend as high as eighth in the standings. It isn’t completely out of the question that they could yet make a late charge for a European finish.
Heidenheim are unbeaten in their last five matches in the Bundesliga, but they have played out draws in their previous three. Their most recent tie was picked up on the road against Hoffenheim, with their goal in that draw being netted by Eren Dinkci after just 30 minutes.

This will only be the second Bundesliga showdown between the two sides. The previous meeting was a thriller at Signal Iduna Park on matchday three, as Dortmund threw away a 2-0 advantage before drawing 2-2. The only other meeting between the sides saw Dortmund land a 4-3 away win in a pre-season friendly in 2014.

Dortmund have hit form since the end of the winter break, and that leaves them in a very strong position to finish in a Champions League spot this term. This should be a good test for the visitors on the road, but we find it hard to overlook their clear claims to land maximum points.
