There had been a lot of questions surrounding Fulham’s chances in the Premier League this term, with constant rumours linking Marco Silva and Aleksandar Mitrovic with moves away. However, the Cottagers made a dream start to the new season, as they landed a memorable 1-0 win at Goodison Park against Everton.
Their winning goal was scored with just 17 minutes remaining, as Bobby De Cordova-Reid came off the bench to net the winner. Brentford were involved in one of the most entertaining opening matches of the weekend, as they earned a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in front of their own fans. The Bees were excellent in the opening half, with Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa finding the net.
That would have been a welcome sight for Thomas Frank to see his two strikers on the scoresheet, as the Bees face life without Ivan Toney until the start of next year. The point also extended Brentford’s excellent record in London derbies in the league, as they have now gone ten without defeat. They haven’t enjoyed a longer unbeaten run since going eleven without loss in August 1955.
