Two sides rooted on zero points in the Premier League will lock horns on Saturday. Both Everton and Wolves have struggled over the opening two weekends of the season, but this weekend will present both with a perfect opportunity to get off the mark in the top flight.
Premier League Preview
It has been a concerning start to the new Premier League season for both Everton and Wolves this term. Both clubs are currently locked in the bottom three places in the league standings, and they have scored just one goal between them over the opening two matches and have conceded a total of ten goals.
Wolves were unable to back up their positive display at Old Trafford on Saturday, as they were routinely beaten by Brighton & Hove Albion at Molineux. The Midlands side managed just five shots on target, and conceded three goals in the space of ten second half minutes. However, they did finally score their first goal of the new season with half an hour remaining.
But, Wolves conceded four goals in their opening home match of a Premier League season for just the second time in their history. They previously lost 4-0 to Charlton to start their home campaign in 2003-04, but they were ultimately relegated that season. Everton’s start to the new season has also been poor, and they were humbled in the Midlands on matchday two by Aston Villa.
The Toffees conceded twice in either half, and offered little in the final third to try and get themselves back into the fixture. Everton have now lost each of their opening two matches without finding the back of the net for the first time since 1955-56. There are clearly issues in the final third of the field.

Wolves come into this fixture without a defeat in four Premier League matches against Everton. Over that period, they have landed back-to-back wins at Goodison Park, which includes a 2-1 victory last season. The other meeting between the sides last term ended in a 1-1 draw.

There is little doubt that this will likely be a low-scoring fixture between two sides with a lack of clear quality in the final third. However, a chance will be taken on Wolves landing maximum points as they boast an impressive record at Goodison Park in recent seasons.
