Chelsea’s position in the Premier League standings isn’t as strong as it was a couple of weeks ago, and Thomas Tuchel will be hoping that his side doesn’t get dragged into a scrap for top four. Meanwhile, Wolves will visit Stamford Bridge looking for a second victory in six.
Premier League Preview
It has been a difficult couple of weeks for Chelsea, as they look to solidify their place in the Champions League places. The Blues still have their fate in their own hands, but they are just three clear of Arsenal and five clear of Tottenham Hotspur. However, it still looks incredibly likely that they will be playing in the Champions League next season.
But, the Blues have been disappointing across their previous five games, as they have won just twice. They have also gone two without a victory in the Premier League, and were beaten in their most recent fixture by Everton. The Toffees were lucky to have Jordan Pickford in inspired form in that fixture, as the England international was excellent in keeping Chelsea out. However, the Blues will be looking to end the campaign on a high note.
Wolves are one of a number of sides in the Premier League that will be hoping that the campaign comes to an end fairly soon. The side from the Midlands has won just once in their previous five games, and have suffered three straight defeats in the Premier League. Their fight to finish in a European place is still alive though, as they are just three points behind West Ham United.
However, they will need to be much better than they were in their previous fixture, as they were easily beaten 3-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion. Wolves managed just a single shot on target in that game, and have now conceded five unanswered goals in their previous three fixtures. They have also failed to win in their previous four games on the road.
Chelsea vs Wolves Head to Head
Chelsea are winless in their previous three fixtures against Wolves. The previous two have both ended in 0-0 draws. Wolves beat Chelsea at home last season by a 2-1 scoreline, but are winless in their previous six visits to Stamford Bridge. However, Chelsea’s last win in this fixture was back in July 2020.
Chelsea vs Wolves Prediction
Chelsea have endured a disappointing record in this fixture, but they remain the pick this weekend. Wolves have certainly lost all their momentum, and I would expect the Blues to pick up a 2-0 win.
