Chelsea vs Crystal Palace Prediction: Premier League Match on 03.10.2020
Chelsea will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League as they host Crystal Palace this weekend. The pressure may begin to build on Frank Lampard if the Blues can’t end this run of two without a win.
Premier League Preview
It was a disappointing weekend for Chelsea in the Premier League last time out, as they were blown away by newly promoted West Bromwich Albion in a pulsating first half. The Baggies raced into a 3-0 half-time lead, with Chelsea being the victims of their own downfall in a disastrous first half. Callum Robinson scored a brace for the Baggies in the first half, while Kyle Bartley also found the net.
It certainly wasn’t the debut that Thiago Silva was hoping for, as he made a rare error to hand the Baggies one of their goals. Chelsea have now conceded six in their last two, which shows that the poor defensive record from last season hasn’t improved as much as Lampard would have been hoping for.
Crystal Palace have already claimed one big win this season, as they won away from home at Old Trafford. However, this is a slightly different proposition that awaits them at Stamford Bridge, as there will need to be a response from the Blues. The Eagles come into this match off the back of a controversial defeat against Everton last time out.
Richarlison scored a penalty with five minutes remaining of the first-half, but that decision didn’t sit well with Roy Hodgson. He admitted that he was impressed with his side’s performance, and was ultimately disappointed that they didn’t get the point that he thought that Palace deserved.
Chelsea vs Crystal Palace Head To Head
Palace have a terrible record against Chelsea, as they have lost the last five against the Blues. Their last win at Stamford Bridge came in 2017, but that remains only their second win at Chelsea in the Premier league era. Palace have also lost two of the previous three without scoring a goal.
Chelsea vs Crystal Palace Prediction
Palace’s miserable record at Stamford Bridge doesn’t give them much hope in this fixture, but they could have the attacking players to cause problems for the Blues backline. Regardless, it’s unlikely that the Blues will drop more points this early in the season. Timo Werner will also be hoping to break his goal scoring duck.
