Graham Potter makes his first return to Brighton since leaving for Chelsea this weekend, as the Blues look to bounce back after being held to draws in each of their previous two fixtures. Chelsea were leap-frogged in the battle for a Champions League place in the previous round of fixtures, with Newcastle United moving into fourth.

Chelsea’s form under Potter has still been relatively strong, but they have looked slightly short of ideas in the attacking third in their previous two fixtures. Their only goal during that run was scored from the penalty spot against Manchester United. However, the Blues couldn’t hang on to the maximum points, as the Red Devils deservedly scored a late equaliser.

Things may have started well for Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton with a 3-3 draw at Anfield against Liverpool, but their form since has dipped considerably. They are yet to win under their new manager, and they have lost three of their previous four games in the Premier League.

The Seagulls were at least able to score a first goal in four fixtures in their previous match, as they lost 3-1 away from home against Manchester City. However, that weak attacking outlet could cost them a place in the top half this season, as they recently played out a 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest at the AMEX.

Each of the previous three Premier League matches between these sides have ended in draws. Both meetings last term ended in 1-1 ties. However, Chelsea is unbeaten in ten meetings against the Seagulls in Premier League fixtures, having won three times in five visits to the Amex. Both of the previous two meetings have seen both teams score in 90 minutes.
