It hasn’t been the most straightforward season for Dortmund by any stretch of the imagination, but the German club once again has a leading chance to win a piece of silverware this term. This will be Dortmund’s first fixture in the competition since the middle of October, where they edged to a 2-0 win over Hannover in the second round. Bochum is yet to win the DFB Pokal. They have reached the final on two previous occasions, with their latest appearance in the showpiece coming back in the 1987-88 final. They have often fallen short in this competition, as they have crashed out in the opening three rounds in five of the previous six seasons.
However, they did progress through to the quarterfinals last term. Their recent form is fairly steady, as they have picked up three victories from their previous five matches. Meanwhile, they booked their spot in this stage of the competition in October, as they landed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Elversberg away from home. The only goal in that win was scored by Anthony Losilla with five minutes remaining.

In competitive fixtures, Dortmund has claimed four wins from the previous five meetings between the sides since 2009. Over that run, Bochum has claimed just a single victory, with that success being recorded in April 2022. However, Dortmund were easy 3-0 winners in the previous meeting between the sides this season.
