Aston Villa vs Everton Prediction: Premier League Match on 17.01.2021
Aston Villa’s excellent start to the season has been thrown into disarray after a COVID outbreak at their training ground has left them playing catch up. Will the home side be able to get back to winning ways against Everton this weekend?
Premier League Preview
It has been a sticky period for Aston Villa, but there is every expectancy that their upcoming fixture against Everton this weekend will go ahead as planned. They will be welcoming in-form Everton to Villa Park, as two of the sides that could be fighting for a European place go head-to-head. Villa will be looking for a first win in two, as they have lost and draw their last two games in the league. Their most recent Premier League outing came at Old Trafford, as Dean Smith’s side gave a good account of themselves in a 2-1 defeat. Since then, a COVID outbreak has wreaked havoc with their fixtures, as they were forced to play their youth team in an FA Cup fixture with Liverpool, before they were forced to postpone their Premier League midweek clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
Everton have moved back into the top-four in the Premier League following a win in midweek on the road against Wolverhampton Wanderers. It was an excellent fighting display by the Toffees in that game, but they were able to claim the win in the end, as Michael Keane scored the winner ten minutes from time. Alex Iwobi had opened the scoring after six minutes in the Black Country, but Ruben Neves did level the scores less than ten minutes later. Everton will be playing before a lot of sides around them this weekend, and could move up to second in the league table with a win in the West Midlands.
Aston Villa vs Everton Head To Head
Villa have done well against Everton in the games that they have played against the Toffees since returning to the top-flight. They won the game played at Villa Park last season 2-0, before claiming a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park in the reverse fixture.
Aston Villa vs Everton Prediction
There is much doubt that this will be an entertaining game at Villa Park, as both of these sides will be trying to get the three points to improve their chances of finishing in a European spot this season. Villa may still be missing some players for this fixture, which means that the travelling Toffees will be our pick.
