Antwerp vs Tottenham Hotspur: UEFA Europa League on 29.10.2020

Tottenham Hotspur will continue their Europa League campaign this week with a trip to Belgium to take on Royal Antwerp. But, will they be able to make it two wins from two?

Europa League Preview

Confidence within the Tottenham Hotspur camp will be huge at present, as they have started off the new Premier League season in great form. They are already been touted as potential title contenders due to the form of Heung Min-Son and Harry Kane. Both forwards were once again starring players in the recent league victory against Burnley, as Kane set up Son to score a late winner to lift Spurs to fifth in the standings.

Spurs also got their Europa League campaign off to a good start last week, as they beat LASK 3-0. Gareth Bale made his full debut on his return to Spurs, with the goals being scored in the win by Lucas Moura and Son. There was also an own goal by Andres Andrade in the game, as Spurs looked very comfortable on the opening night in the competition.

Royal Antwerp are the current leaders in the Belgian Pro League, as they have won six of their opening ten fixtures this season. They have lost just twice, but are unbeaten in five domestic games so far this season. They come into this fixture having won their last three in all competitions, which also included a win in their opening Europa League fixture against Ludogorets.

Antwerp needed to come from behind in that fixture, with goals in the final half an hour from Pieter Gerkens and Lior Refaelov securing all three points for the Belgian side. There will now be confidence that they could be the team that are best placed to challenge Spurs for a place in the top two of this group.

Antwerp vs Tottenham Hotspur Team News

There is only one injury concern for Spurs, as Japhet Tanganga will be missing for Spurs. The defender is a slight concern after picking up a muscle injury. Meanwhile,  Benson Manuel, Dylan Batubinsika, Alexis de Sart and Jordan Lukaku will be missing for the hosts due to COVID-19.

Antwerp vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction

Tottenham have already put down their marker for the Europa League this season, and we fully expect them to make it two wins on the bounce this week. It won’t be as straightforward as the opening night, but they’ll edge out a narrow win.
