Juventus continue their push for the Serie A title this weekend as they welcome Torino. But, will they be able to increase their lead at the top of the league standings or will there be a shock result in store for the Old Lady?
It has been a solid start to the restart for Juventus as they have won all three fixtures. Their run of victories means that they have been able to maintain their four-point lead at the top of the table over Lazio, and with nine games remaining, there is an expectancy that that Maurizio Sarri’s side may have overcome the toughest part of the season. Since the restart, Juventus have been near perfect as they have scored nine goals in the three games and have only conceded once. That one goal that they have conceded came in their last fixture against Genoa, as they secured a 3-1 win away from home. Paulo Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo and Douglas Costa scored the goals for the Old Lady in that dominant success. Ronaldo and Dybala have now scored three goals in three games since the restart, and their relationship seems to be improving with every passing game.
It hasn’t been such a happy beginning to the restart for Torino, as they have won just once in four league games. That run of form has also seen Torino lose their last two games, as they appear set for a season of mid-table mediocrity. They do seem as though they are safe from the threat of relegation, but they are too far away from challenging for a place in the European places. Their last two defeats have come against Cagliari and Lazio, with the latter of those being their most recent. They were beaten 2-1 on that occasion, with Andrea Belotti scoring the only goal for Torino.
Torino have a terrible record against Juventus, as they haven’t beaten the Old Lady in the previous eleven meetings in all competitions. Juventus have won nine of the previous eleven, which includes the 1-0 win that they earned earlier in the season.
This should not be a difficult fixture for Juventus, as they have their two biggest stars in great form at present. Torino struggle for clean sheets, and that means that it will be a comfortable success for the home side.
