Bruno Fernandes pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 58th minute. Cunha equalised in the 83rd minute and scored the winner three minutes later from Shea Lacey's pass.

How the Game Turned
Roma's start was a lesson in how to punish a stretched side. United were repeatedly opened up down their left, with Diogo Dalot pushed forward and Ayden Heaven left exposed, and Soulé's opener came amid that disarray.
More sloppy defending soon gifted Roma a second, as ESPN noted: Heaven was adjudged to have handled a shot, and referee Jesús Gil Manzano pointed to the spot. United were booed off at half-time, and the anger reflected a run that had brought four defeats and one draw in their previous five games in all competitions.
Carlos Baleba was substituted soon after the restart because of a hamstring problem. Cunha went down under light contact from Gianluca Mancini to win the penalty that started the comeback.
Roma came in unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions, having scored 18 goals in them, an average of more than three a game. However, they could not manage the game once momentum shifted. Their defending cracked when Leonardo Balerdi scuffed his clearance of a Fernandes cross straight to Cunha for the equaliser. Lacey then cut inside and slipped the ball to Cunha, who drove a tight-angle finish in off the inside of the near post.
Cunha's first booking came for removing his shirt after the winner. Five minutes later, a challenge on Balerdi earned him his second yellow as a silly foul.
After the match, Fernandes said the squad was frustrated and hoped the win would be a first step towards better times. He said he had been benched against Bournemouth for not performing, and accepted the decision. At his post-match press conference, Michael Carrick called it an important night, praised the players for pulling through and said he was delighted for Lacey .It was United's second win of the league phase, taking them to six points in 17th place while Roma are 19th.
