Reigning champions Galatasaray continue their Süper Lig title defence with a home fixture on Saturday. Winless Göztepe are the latest visitors to Rams Park.

Osimhen already firing for Galatasaray

With Champions League football also on the horizon, Galatasaray are finalising their plans for the 2026/27 season. They completed the €25m signing of Aleksey Batrakov last week, their biggest piece of business so far for the summer.

The Russian midfielder could make his debut from the bench in this game. The hosts are doing well on the fitness front, with back-up goalkeeper Günay Güvenç their only confirmed absentee.

Some changes are expected from the 4-0 win over Erzurumspor last time out, with Eren Elmalı and Wilfried Singo pushing for recalls in defence. Victor Osimhen, who has already registered four goals in two league outings this term, will lead the line.

Galatasaray predicted lineup vs Göztepe (4-2-3-1): Çakır; Singo, Sánchez, Bardakcı, Elmalı; Torreira, Lemina; Akgün, Sané, Yılmaz; Osimhen.

Göztepe hit by defensive injury crisis

Matchday two was a major disappointment on two levels for Göztepe. They were beaten 1-0 at home by Gençlerbirliği, while Brazilian defender Allan Godói suffered a potentially season-ending ACL injury.

Stanimir Stoilov now has some serious problems at the back. Central defenders Noah Sonko Sundberg and Furkan Bayır are already sidelined, while squad players Ibrahim Sabra and Nevzat Üzel are additional absentees.

The visitors are likely to play with two strikers at Rams Park, including summer signing Sinclair Armstrong. The Irishman has netted once in two Süper Lig appearances since completing a €1.75m switch from Bristol City.

Göztepe predicted lineup vs Galatasaray (3-4-1-2): Gugeshashvili; Altıkardeş, Yıldırım, Bokélé; Kurtulan, Matos, Miroshi, Bayrak; Bekiroğlu; Henrique, Armstrong.

Galatasaray vs Göztepe Prediction

  • Safe Tip: Over 2 goals
  • Odds: 1.27 (22Bet)
  • Correct score prediction: Galatasaray 4-1 Göztepe
  • 22Bet Booking Code: 3F92E

Key stats:

  • The previous 10 meetings between these clubs have delivered at least two goals.
  • Both teams have scored in each of Göztepe’s last five trips to play Galatasaray.
  • Including friendlies, there have been three or more goals in each of the home team’s past five matches.

Backing over 2 goals is a safe pick, given the visitors look set to start with two strikers and take some risks. Including friendlies, four of the past five Göztepe fixtures have produced at least two goals, with their last away match ending in a 3-3 draw at Samsunspor.

With Osimhen averaging a goal every 45 minutes and eight shots per game so far in the 2026/27 Süper Lig, the hosts should offer a consistent threat. 28 goals have been scored in their seven outings since they returned for pre-season.

Galatasaray vs Göztepe Prediction, Value Tip

  • Value Tip: Galatasaray -1.5 Handicap
  • Odds: 2.14 (22Bet)
  • 22Bet Booking Code: BAADE

The injury problems that Göztepe are dealing with at the back will leave their defence badly exposed. They will struggle to cope against a free-scoring Galatasaray side who have scored six times across their opening two league fixtures.

Three of the past five meetings in Istanbul have seen the hosts win 3-1, and they offer value here with a -1.5 handicap.

Verdict: Over 2 goals (1.27) — Galatasaray 4-1 Göztepe
