Real Madrid is in a dire situation. Carlo Ancelotti needs to come up with a solution, as fans are running out of patience.
The club believed that Kylian Mbappé’s arrival would make them invincible. The Frenchman was a favourite of Real Madrid owner Florentino Pérez, and his dream finally came true.
However, Real Madrid’s issues stem from Vinicius Jr. and Mbappé vying for the same left-wing space, disrupting their attacking balance. Ancelotti tried Mbappé as a central striker, but this setup quickly proved ineffective.
Bellingham, deployed in a deeper role to cover for Kroos’ exit, has struggled to provide the same offensive impact seen in the 2023/24 season.
The results are self-explanatory: Real Madrid lost against Lille (1-0), was defeated by Barcelona in the Bernabéu (0-4), and they lost this week in the Champions League at home against AC Milan (1-3).
The team lacks creative outlets, as Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga and Fede Valverde cannot replicate Kroos’ unique passing art.
Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged his team’s issues: “When you are not solid in defence, games can get complicated at any moment. We were able to recover from these situations a few times, but you can’t do it every time.”
Although Ancelotti seems aware of his team’s problems, he has not been able to fix them.
Osasuna surprised a handful this season by parting ways with long-time manager Jagoba Arrasate. He brought the club back to the first division in the 2018/19 season, and the team became one of the most difficult to play against.
Arrasate joined Mallorca’s project, leaving Osasuna future in uncertainty. He was succeeded by Vicente Moreno, a manager who coached several teams in Spain, without ever standing out.
However, Moreno’s stint has been an immense success so far. Osasuna is currently 5th with 21 points from 12 games, only two points behind third-placed Atlético de Madrid.
Los Rojillos defeated Hansi Flick’s Barcelona at El Sadar (4-2), while only losing thrice since the beginning of the season. They also only failed to score in two games, making the case for an impressive attack with limited resources.
On the other hand, the team has also struggled to keep a clean sheet, making Osasuna one of the most entertaining teams in the league.
Bet hereOsasuna is a tough nut to crack. The unique El Sadar stadium is a big factor in this solidity. However, the narrative changes away from home, where their record is less impressive. Still, with Real Madrid recently struggling, this would be the ideal opportunity to achieve a result at the Bernabéu.
After the heavy 0-4 defeat against Barcelona, Los Blancos cannot afford to drop points anymore. Real Madrid have a better team on paper and the resources to defeat Osasuna through its mix of technically talented players and incredible athletes.
Nonetheless, the team cannot afford to press 9v11 anymore, especially against a team like Osasuna, who press aggressively in mid-block.
Following their 1-3 defeat to AC Milan in the Champions League, Real Madrid needs their stars to deliver.
Vinicius Jr., in particular, has the potential to exploit Osasuna’s defense, with his skill set unmatched by their back line.
Carlo Ancelotti might not yet have the solution for Mbappé, but he knows how to maximise Vinicius’ output. Osasuna doesn’t have a defender who can match him 1v1, giving Ancelotti a unique advantage and Vinicius the opportunity to find the back of the net.
