Hoffenheim host Borussia Dortmund in the 31st round of the Bundesliga this Saturday. Ranked 15th in the league table, they may just avoid relegation this season and heave a huge sigh of relief when it’s confirmed.
Still, they need to put up a strong showing against Dortmund and aim to pick up all three points on offer.
With Tom Bischof suspended, things might get a little tricky for Hoffenheim as key player Christopher Lenz is out with an injury. Diadie Samassekou has hurt his knee and won’t be available for a few days. ACL injuries have sidelined the Grischa Promel and Ozan Kabak til at least May this year.
Valentin Gandrey, meanwhile, has a broken collarbone, and Ihlas Bebou is ruled out due to an unspecified concern.
All these injuries will force Hoffenheim to turn to the players on the bench and hope they put up a decent performance against heavyweights Dortmund.
Hoffenheim predicted lineup vs Borussia Dortmund (4-2-3-1): Baumann; Gendrey, Chaves, Akpoguma, Prass; Stach, Yardimici; Toure, Kramaric, Bulter; Tabakovic.
Borussia Dortmund have had one of their worst seasons in the Bundesliga and rank seventh in the league table. They won’t have any hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season and aim only to qualify for the Europa League.
Marco Rose’s men have been far from their best. This can be attested by the fact that they have won just three out of their previous five outings.
However, their attackers have been in fine form, scoring 12 goals in their last five games. Their defenders need a wake-up call as they have failed to mark their opponents tightly – Dortmund haven’t kept a clean sheet in 10 events.
Julian Brandt has created the highest number of big chances for Borussia (13) and will be the player to watch out for on Saturday.
Injuries to Cole Campbell, Marcel Sabitzer, Maximilian Beier, and Nico Schlotterbeck will hamper Dortmund’s preparations for the game and instead force them to turn towards other personnel.
Borussia Dortmund predicted lineup vs Hoffenheim (4-2-3-1): Kobel; Ryerson, Emre Can, Anton, Bensebaini; Groß, Nmecha; Gittens, Brandt, Adeyemi; Guirassy.
Bet hereBorussia have the upper hand in this game, and we expect them to win it quite comfortably.
The two sides played out a 1-1 draw when they last met in the reverse fixture earlier this season. However, we believe that the gulf in class between Hoffenheim and Dortmund is immense.
The visitors have beaten their opponents on 15 out of 31 occasions in the past. Nine of which were played out as draws.
Borussia have been unbeaten against Hoffenheim in four out of the previous five matches contested between the two teams.
The hosts come into this game on the back of a narrow defeat to Freiburg. Dortmund’s confidence will be high after beating Borussia M’gladbach by a 3-2 scoreline.
The home squad have scored six goals in their last five meetings, and this needs some improvement. Adam Hlozek has the most shots on target per 90 for Hoffenheim (1.1). He’s also created the highest number of big chances for them (7) and will be closely watched by the Borussia defenders this weekend.
Hoffenheim have scored in three out of their last four matches, while Dortmund have found the back of the net on four of their previous five. We saw both teams find the net in three out of the last four H2H encounters. These stats, quite naturally, indicate towards BTTS again on Saturday.
