The German champions will bring the curtain down on their 2021-22 season this weekend, as they look to pick up victory on the road against Wolfsburg. The hosts will also be looking for a victory to finish tenth in the Bundesliga standings this term.
It has been another excellent season domestically for Bayern Munich, as they have already wrapped up the Bundesliga title in convincing fashion. The Bavarian giants have finished way clear of the chasing pack, and will be looking to put the exclamation mark on their campaign with a final victory of the season this weekend when they travel to Wolfsburg.
Bayern have won three of their last five games, but their form has taken a hit as they have gone two without victory in the Bundesliga. They were held for the fourth time this season in their previous fixture, as they played out a 2-2 draw against Stuttgart.
The traveling side went 1-0 ahead before Bayern turned the game around before half time following goals from Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller. However, Stuttgart rescued a point in the second period, before Kingsley Coman was sent off for Bayern in the 95th minute.
Wolfsburg’s season promised so much in the early weeks, but a terrible middle period of the season meant that they were fighting against relegation. There is no threat of the drop coming into the final week of the season, as they sit in 13th place. However, victory on the final day could see them end the 2021-22 campaign as high as tenth.
Wolfsburg have been decent over recent weeks, as they have won three of their last five games. Their latest victory was picked up last weekend, as they claimed a 1-0 victory against FC Köln. Yannick Gerhardt scored the winning goal just before the interval.
Bayern Munich boast a very impressive record in this fixture, as they have picked up victories in each of the last eight meetings between the sides. Wolfsburg’s last win against Bayern came back in January 2015. Bayern picked up the win earlier in the season with a 4-0 success.
It has been another fantastic season for Bayern Munich, and we struggle to see past them bringing the curtain down on the campaign with another victory. It could be an entertaining game with both teams scoring, but the preference is for a 3-1 win for Bayern.
