Juventus have work to do in the second half of the season if they are to regain the Serie A title this season, as they come into this weekend seven points off the top of the league.
Juventus will be looking for a fourth win six in league games against Sampdoria this weekend, and will be hoping to follow up their recent win against Bologna with a second win on the bounce. It was a controlled performance in that game at the Allianz Stadium, as Juventus registered eleven shots on target and dominated the possession throughout. Arthur opened the scoring in that match, as he fired home after just 15 minutes. Weston McKennie ensured all three points were staying with the Old Lady, as he scored the second goal 20 minutes from time. The American has been a revelation for Juventus since signing from Schalke, as he has scored three goals and made two assists in the 15 games that he has played in the Italian top-flight. He will be looking to continue his excellent form with another strong showing against Sampdoria.
It won’t be an easy ride for Juventus this weekend, as Sampdoria have shown throughout the season that they are able to win games. They have been in decent form recent, as they have won three in four. They will be welcoming Juventus to town after winning back to back games in the league. Sampdoria’s most recent win came away from home against struggling Parma, as they picked up a 2-0 win. Both of their goals were scored in the opening 35 minutes, with Maya Yoshida and Keita Balde Diao the two scorers in that victory. A third win on the spin could raise their hopes of a finishing in the top half of the standings.
Juventus have won the last three against Sampdoria. They have scored seven goals in total during these fixtures, and have conceded just once. The last win that Sampdoria achieved against the Old Lady came in May 2019, as they won 2-0 at home.
Juventus have been going under the radar in the title race this season, but their experience of winning titles could be pivotal in the second half of the season. They will still be expecting to win the league, but they can’t afford a slip up this weekend. We expect them to win.
