Rwanda vs Uganda Prediction: World Cup Qualifying Match on 07.10.2021

Important points will be up for grabs in Group E of CAF World Cup qualification this weekend, as Uganda and Rwanda will both be looking for first victories. Defeat for either of the nations could spell the end of their hopes of reaching the World Cup finals in Qatar.

World Cup Qualifier Preview

Rwanda and Uganda come into this fixture as the two sides locked in the bottom two places in Group E. Rwanda are the nation at the bottom of the standings, while Uganda are just a point ahead of them in third.

It hasn’t been the worst of starts in Group E for Uganda, as they are yet to lose a fixture in this group to this point, but they have been held to successive 0-0 draws. Scoring goals has certainly been an issue for them, and this is something that they will need to address if they are to climb up the standings in the group. However, the fact that they are unbeaten in two group games shouldn’t be overlooked, as they have shown strong defensive play, which could give them an excellent chance.

Rwanda are yet to find any sort of form in Group E, as they have lost once and drew once in the group stages. Unlike Uganda, they have actually scored a goal though, with that strike coming in their last group game against Kenya, as the nations played out a 1-1 draw. Abdul Rwatubyaye scored the equalising goal in that fixture after just 20 minutes.

Both sides will need to improve on the displays that they have put in so far in Group E, as the stakes couldn’t be much bigger in this pivotal third round of fixtures in qualification.

Rwanda vs Uganda Head to Head

These two nations are no strangers to each other, as this will be the 34th meeting between the sides. Uganda have recorded 14 wins, while Rwanda have won on ten occasions. However, Rwanda haven’t recorded a win in this fixture since 2007, and that run without a victory is currently at seven games. Three of the last four matches have ended in draws.

Rwanda vs Uganda Prediction

Rwanda’s record in this fixture is concerning, which means that we could be looking at an away victory in this fixture this week. It will be a close fixture, but a 1-0 win for the travelling side will be the pick.
