Russia vs Turkey Prediction: Nations League Match on 11.10.2020

Two teams that have been in contrasting form in the Nations League so far will meet this weekend on the third matchday. But, will Russia be able to maintain their perfect start to Group B3?

Nations League Preview

It has been an excellent start to the Nations League for Russia, as they have won both of the two games that they have played in to this point. They have scored six goals and conceded just three in these two fixtures. The Russians opened the group with a 3-1 success at home against Serbia. Artem Dzyuba scored a brace in that success, while Vyacheslav Karavayev also found the net.

That victory was followed up with another win for Russia in their following game, as they beat Hungary 3-1. Anton Miranchuk, Magomed Ozdoyev and Mario Fernandes scored the goals in that win. Turkey have flourished as a counter-attacking team in the Nations League to this point, as they haven’t had at least 50% possession in either of the games that they have played in to this point.

Turkey’s form in the Nations League hasn’t been good to this point, as they are yet to win in their two matches. They lost in their opening game of the competition against Hungary, before this was swiftly followed with a 0-0 draw against Serbia. The Turks wouldn’t have been disappointed not to have got three points from that game, as they were playing against ten-men for the majority of the second half.

However, Turkey would have certainly taken confidence from their last game, as they held Germany to a 3-3 draw in Cologne. Kenan Karaman scored a 94th minute equaliser to rescue a point from that game, as Turkey came from behind on three occasions against the 2014 world champions.

Russia vs Turkey Head To Head

This will be the seventh time that Russia and Turkey have come up against each other. However, Turkey are yet to get a positive result. Russia have won four of the six meetings, while two have ended in draws. Russia won both games in the previous instalment of the Nations League, while the last draw came in an international friendly that also took place in 2018.

Russia vs Turkey Prediction

Russia have been in great form in the Nations League so far, and after studying the recent meetings, it would seem as though they look good value to get the three points when they come up against Turkey this weekend.
