There will be another interesting fixture in La Liga this week, as Villarreal will travel to Real Betis looking to continue their excellent form since the restart. Real Betis have been in inconsistent form, but they will be keen to end the season with a string of good results.
The pressure going into this fixture will be on the travelling side, as they may be hopeful of pushing on to finish in the Champions League places. The top-four doesn’t seem as impossible as it did so before the break, as Villarreal are just three points away from Sevilla. They would have also taken confidence in the fact that Sevilla have been drawing so many games, so the door remains open for them to pounce.
Villarreal’s form has been tremendous, as they have won four of their five games since the restart. The only match that they failed to win was against Sevilla, where they were held to a 2-2 draw. However, they returned to winning ways in their last fixture against Valencia, as they claimed a comfortable 2-0 home win. Gerard Moreno scored the match-clinching goal just before half time, after Paco Alcacer put Villarreal ahead. Another win here and they will be considered a solid chance for a place in the top four.
Real Betis have been a strange team throughout the season, as they have been capable of producing excellent performances like they did to beat Real Madrid, while they have also been guilty of being way below par. They have struggled since the restart as they have won just once in their previous five. During this run, they have lost three times. Their most recent defeat came away from home against Levante, as they found themselves 4-0 down after an hour. Betis did their best to respond, but goals in the final 20 minutes from Sergio Canales and Juanmi only softened the blow slightly.
Gamblers would be wise to bet against the draw this week, as these two sides haven’t shared a point in any of the last seven meetings. Villarreal have won five of the previous seven games, while Betis have recorded two wins. Villarreal have won two of the previous three, but haven’t won away at Betis since 2017.
Villarreal have been in tremendous form since the restart, and there is a real feeling that they will be able to get into the Champions League places. They look determined, and that means that they will claim the three points in this fixture.
