Real Betis vs Real Madrid Prediction: La Liga Match on 26.09.2020

It’s round three from the Spanish La Liga this weekend with four games set to be played on Saturday afternoon. The focus of this article is on Estadio Benito Villamarin where Real Betis host Real Madrid from 20:00 as last season’s champions aim for their first win of the season.

The visitors will be expected by many followers of Spanish football to come away with the three points from this match, but the recent stats support the locals. Madrid haven’t recorded a win over Betis in three games, a run stretching back to January last year. Big Green won 2-1 when last hosting Madrid back in March, taking the points thanks to goals from Sidnei and Tello.

Betis yet to concede a goal

Real Betis enter this home match joint top of the table with six points collected from their first two games of the new season. The locals have scored three goals and kept two clean sheets leaving them behind Granada ahead on goals scored. Betis opened their account with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Alaves but needed a late goal from Tello to get across the line, the match-winning goal coming with 94 minutes on the clock.

They built on that success with a 2-0 home win over Real Valladolid last time out to help build momentum. Fekir fired home a penalty inside the opening 10 minutes of that match to give his employers a deserved lead before William Carvalho put the game to bed with a second eight minutes later. It was a fast start and more than enough to see off an opponent that offered little resistance.

Madrid stutter to a draw

Real Madrid shocked European football last season when fighting back to win the La Liga title from Barcelona in the closing stages. Zinedine Zidane’s men had been written off by the majority but showed their class by putting together a winning run to end Barca’s dominance.

Despite their ambitions, Real Madrid stumbled out of the blocks when managing only a draw in their first game of the season. Visiting Real Sociedad, Madrid were expected to put on a show but were held to a goalless draw by a dogged and determined opponent. The stats show Madrid had 68% of the ball possession in that match and 16 shots at goal but put just four on target, failing to find the net. Zidane will demand his side are far more ruthless in the final third this time out.

Real Betis vs Real Madrid prediction

Betis have home advantage and enter on the back of two wins. There’s confidence in the home side and they can use that to hold their own here. The locals may see the value in a share of the spoils against last season’s champions.

La Liga odds
