Manchester City will be looking to go to the top of the Premier League standings this weekend when they welcome Luton Town to the Etihad. The visitors will be massive outsiders in the betting, but they could move out of the bottom three places if they are able to gain maximum points.
The fascinating battle for the Premier League title continues this weekend. Man City will have the opportunity to move to the summit on Saturday, as they could go two points clear of the chasing pack with a home win over Luton. The reigning champions come into this round of matches after winning each of their last two fixtures in the competition, while they have suffered just three defeats all season.
City have now scored eight goals across their last two matches in the competition, and they were last in action securing a 4-2 away victory against Crystal Palace last Saturday. Erling Haaland netted the final goal in that success, while earlier efforts were registered by Kevin De Bruyne and Rico Lewis.
Luton Town still find themselves within striking distance of securing a survival position in the Premier League at this late stage of the season. The Hatters currently sit 18th in the table, but they come into this weekend after registering a much-needed three points in their previous fixture to move level on points with Nottingham Forest.
Luton showed their character to record victory against Bournemouth, coming back from a goal down to secure a 2-1 success at Kenilworth Road. Their winning effort was scored in the final minute by Carlton Morris. That was their first victory in eleven league matches and also marked the first time that they had come back from a goal down to record a victory in the Premier League.
Man City have recorded victories in each of the two matches between the sides start the start of 2023. Their latest win was a dominant 6-2 success in the FA Cup in February. City were made to work hard in the reverse fixture between the sides in the league, eventually securing a 2-1 success at Kenilworth Road in December.
Luton have given good accounts of themselves in all fixtures against the top sides this season, meaning that this could be a closer clash than the odds suggest. But, we find it very hard to overlook the likely prospect of a victory for City.
