Columbus’ Joonas Korpisalo sets modern NHL record for most shots reflected during a playoff game

Columbus goalkeeper Joonas Korpisalo has broken the all-time NHL record for most shots reflected during a Stanley Cup playoff game. Corpisalo brought the number of saves to 74 during the fourth overtime of the first Stanley Cup game against Tampa, which ended with a score of 2-3 5OT. Thus, he surpassed the current record of 73 saves.

This record was set by Kelly Hrudey during a playoff game in 1987. It should be noted that the official statistics for recording shots began to be kept starting with the 1955/56 season.

Before that, it was not conducted in all games. If it had been, then Normie Smith’s 92 (or 90, depending on who you trust) saves during a 1936 Detroit v Montreal Maroons match would still be seen as the record.
