Juventus saw their excellent run of form come to a screeching halt in their previous fixture. However, they will be looking to get back on track in the Coppa Italia on Thursday by booking their spot in the last eight with victory against Monza.
Juventus had been on an excellent run of form up until their previous game in Serie A. They had won their previous five before visiting Naples, but the height of their downfall was evident on that fateful evening against Napoli. The Old Lady had no answer for the free-flowing football played by the league-leaders, and they were eventually beaten 5-1.
Still, Juventus has shown excellent progression from where they were at the beginning of the season, and that could make them a menacing presence in the Coppa Italia this term. The Old Lady has won this famous honour a record 14 times, with their latest triumph coming in the 2020-21 season. It will be fascinating to see how they respond following defeat in their previous match.
Monza has enjoyed a fine season in Serie A this term, and they already look to be in a strong position to maintain their position in the top-flight. Despite never having previously won the Coppa Italia, Monza has won the Coppa Italia Serie C a record four times throughout their history.
The Italian side has also begun the restart following the World Cup in steady form, as they have gone three without defeat in Serie A. Their most recent outing saw them pick up a fine 3-2 win on the road against Cremonese last weekend.
Monza picked up a famous victory against Juventus in the first meeting between the sides this season. However, that 1-0 win was picked up in their home stadium. The only other meeting between the sides in the past ten years was a friendly, which was won 2-1 by Juventus.
It will be interesting to see how the Old Lady responds following their setback against Napoli last week. However, Monza will put up an excellent fight, and they are more than capable of picking up a shock victory. But, it may pay to side with Juventus edging through to the last eight of the Coppa Italia this week.
