Juventus will be looking to close the gap on the teams at the top of Serie A this weekend, as they come up against Hellas Verona. But, will Andrea Pirlo’s team be able to get the three points?
Juventus currently find themselves four points behind the early leaders in Serie A, as they trail to AC Milan. They will be keen to narrow that gap, and they will have the perfect opportunity to do just that this weekend against Hellas Verona. Juventus have been dominant at home this season, as they have won both fixtures. Their biggest problems have come away from home as they are yet to win under Pirlo.
However, both of these matches have ended in draws, which means that they are still one of three sides that are yet to lose a game in the league this season. Juventus were held in their last Serie A match against Crotone. Alvaro Morata scored his first goal for his new club, but a sending off for Federico Chiesa means that he will be missing for this fixture against Verona. The Old Lady followed up this draw with a win in the Champions League against Dynamo Kiev last time out, with Morata scoring both goals in the win.
Verona are just two places below Juventus in the league standings at present, as they have started the season with two wins from four games. However, they have already been beaten this season, with that defeat coming against Parma. They were able to bounce back from that disappointment with a 0-0 draw against Genoa in their most recent Serie A fixture. Scoring goals has been a problem for Verona to this point as they have scored just four, but their defensive record is the joint best in the league.
Hellas Verona have won two of the previous five matches against Juventus, with one of those successes coming in the last meeting between the sides in February. However, Verona haven’t beaten Juventus away from home in Serie A.
Hellas Verona’s excellent defensive record will be put to the test this weekend against one of the best attacks in Serie A. We expect Juventus to get the win in the fixture, but it will not be a high scoring victory for the Old Lady.
